ADVENTURE ACTIVITY STANDARDS

Adventure Victoria is campaigning to have recreational participants in "adventure activities" removed from the scope of the Adventure Activity Standards.

This will leave it applying to commercial groups only.  We do not necessarily endorse it for those groups either, but we are more than willing to leave that to them. Their standards are their business.

Use the submenu at right to select from a number of aspects our members have written about.

In What is the Adventure Activity Standards?, you'll read a brief description of the Adventure Activity Standards.

In What's Wrong with the Adventure Activity Standards?, you'll read why it is a problem to our members and, we believe, for the community generally.

.......

Some people have asked why we don't take our concerns to SRV (Department of Sport and Recreation, Victoria) or the project managers, Outdoor Recreation Centre. The answer is that we did. The ORC responded by saying that because it is "their project", they can "make the rules", and that they would not work with us to resolve the problem that it poses to the broader community. Both SRV and ORC described the project as a "fait accompli".
